Oprah explains the Law of Attraction really well in the following video.
In January I wrote my new years resolution as a letter to myself and posted it on the wall next to my bed using large post-it note chart paper. I wrote it as if all of the points have already shown up in my life and I’ve accomplished everything. Similar to how Octavia Butler wrote her letter back in the day:
I have a fast and slow example of how the law of attraction manifested what I wanted.
In the letter to myself earlier this year (I think January 6th), I wrote that I wanted to be a part of a film crew in Georgia. On January 8th, I created an Instagram post outlining my experience with film production, my desire to continue flourising in the world of film, and I was looking to be on set in Atlanta, Georgia. The seventh person who commented, Kelly (an impact director and writer), said she had something in Atlanta and would be interested in having me on the project. That was the fastest turnaround time on a manifestation I’ve ever experienced personally.
On Nov 27th, 2015, I wrote this blog post titled “Success: Step by Step”. It outlined my 10-year goals where every step was another year. In 2015, my life looked like this:
I was still doing a bunch of workshops and speaking engagements centered around youth issues and concerns
My photography was steadily getting better, with 41 various occasions of photographing events, doing collabos with amazing people like Tanya from NiaZamar and Tumaini from Tuly Maimouna, and trying wellness photography (that eventually grew into Spirit Stock)
Iris, a talented cinematographer, director, and editor, recognized my skill in producing and planted a seed in my mind to enter the film and television industry
My work contract with AVNU was wrapping up, I was doing virtual assistant work, and I was living with my mom and brother
My goals shifted since I wrote that post in 2015. For example, in 2018 I didn’t move to Atlanta, GA, instead I got comfortable into my new apartment with my friend (and my friend’s wife was living in Atlanta before moving to Toronto). In 2018 I did accomplish the “International Nature” piece. In May 2018, a group of Black and Brown beauties went camping for a few days (check out the IG post). I wouldn’t have known about it if Tumaini didn’t invite me, plus we have many travel adventures stories (such as our 2016 hiking and yoga retreat in California) that we could share!
So, without Tumaini being the plug, I never would have manifested the 2018 “International Nature” goal that I wrote about in 2015 - that was 3 years in the making. Slow and steady wins the race!

“The fundamental principle of the Law of Vibration is that vibrations of similar frequency are drawn together.
Think about two droplets of water that are slowly moving towards each other. What happens as they get closer? They eventually get close enough that they attract each other and become one droplet of water instead of two separate ones. This occurs because they are of like vibration. Now, think about the same phenomena with a droplet of water and a droplet of oil. No matter how close you put them together they will not become one with each other. This is because their vibrations are too different from one another.
This is the idea that the Law of Attraction is based on. If you want to bring about something in your life, regardless of what it is, begin vibrating at a level that is congruent with your desired reality.
This is such a huge idea!”

If the best way for me to achieve my goals is to live as if I’ve already achieved them, then there is no reason to make further plans to do so! Making plans shows the universe that you doubt its ability and lack faith. Doubt is negative and you will then attract more negative and not get your desired item. In the book The Secret, Jack Canfield proposed, “Our job is not to figure out the how.” “…trust that the Universe will figure out how to manifest it.” Studies show that this way of thinking results in greater short term satisfaction, but less motivation and lower chance of achieving goals. Curious that Jack Canfield’s website sells a program to teach you how to make an “Action Plan.”

Note what you focus on.
Start by paying attention to what you focus on. Do you pay attention to what's going right, or what's going wrong? When you're working on manifesting your dreams, obstacles and challenges will arise, but when you focus on what's right, you become an incredible problem-solver, which builds confidence and quickly raises your energetic vibration. You will move through obstacles quicker.
